Each Monday I will feature a new stylist to showcase their talent. Fell free to follow them and support any and all upcoming stylist.
1. Name ,Age, Location
Shemelly Williams, 22, Brooklyn NY
2. What inspired you to become a stylist?
I realized from a very young age that styling hair for me wasn't just a side "hustle" or hobby, but it was one of the only moments I can truly be myself, express my creative genes and just get lost in someone's hair, whether it was natural, relaxed, long or short. Styling hair is my passion, the flame in me that never dies and I always seem to revert right back to that passion. I see it more as a gift from God, and I prefer to use it, than lose it lol
3.How do you feel about the negative attention "kitchen stylist" receive vs salon stylists ?
I honestly didn't even know there was some sort of "beef" lol. Not everyone can simply afford a hair salon and have their clients go there, so they have to start somewhere, whether it's their kitchen or living room. At the end of the day I support any positive hustle and just wish we would all encourage each other oppose to always trying to compete and bring the other person down. If you know you have a gift, talent or task in life, go full force and do it.
4. How long have you been doing hair?
Approximately nine years. I started Braiding hair at a very early age and received help from my mom and aunt on how to make the braid tighter. From their little tips and observing it all came natural and I braided my own hair and cousins hair for school. Practice definitely made perfect lol
5. Post pics of your work
6. Where can the viewers see your work?
I post pics of my hair on instagram once in a while, so you can definitely follow me @swankyswiss. There's more to come, stay tuned!!
